GRAYS OF THORNFORD DORSET

Wyndham Philip Gray & Vera Doris Annie Taylor.

This is the wedding photograph of my Mother and Father Wyndham Philip Gray and Vera Doris Annie Taylor on the1st of August 1936 at Christchurch Battersea London. Wyndham was 22 years old and Vera was 21. In 1996 they celebrated their Diamond wedding anniversary and received a telegram of congratulations from the Queen. Sadly Wyndham died in January this year (2001) aged 87 They would have been married 65 years in August. He will be greatly missed by all his family & friends.

This rather battered photograph is rather precious as it is the only one I have of my father as a small child. It was taken about 1917. Margaret Annie Gray (nee Brittle) is Holding her daughter Charlotte Gray. On her left is daughter Margaret Gray on her Right is daughter Ellen Gray and front right is her son and my father Wyndham Philip Gray. Ellen later married George Savage and Margaret married John Young but died in childbirth. Their son Brian young was adopted by his Grandmother (Margaret Annie) and his name was changed to Gray.

	This is Philip Gray son of Wyndham Gray & Ellen Gray (Nee Stocker) Philip is the Uncle of my Grandfather Samson Charles Gray. He was born 28th January 1878 at 6 Wellington Terrace Luscombe St. Lambeth. He emigrated to Australia and Joined the Australian Army on the 1st November 1916 He returned to Australia after the war on the 1st May 1919.
