Samson Charles Gray was born on the 2nd April 1887 at 9 Meadow place South Lambeth. Son of James Gray (Railway Porter) & Emma Gray (Nee Bagwell). He had 4 Brothers & 2 sisters. Wyndham (Born 1883 Died as an Infant 17th Aug 1884),Nathanial, James, Phoebe, Ellen, & Harry. Phoebe & Ellen emigrated to Canada

Samson married Margaret Annie Brittle on Christmas Day 25th December 1907 at All Saints Church Lambeth (Then Surrey). They both gave their address as 51 Pascal Street Lambeth. The Witnesses at the wedding were Harry Brittle & Sylvia Ann Brittle.

Samson died on the 16th June 1969 aged 82 at St James Hospital Balham South London. Margaret Annie was born on the 18th April 1889 at Lambeth and died 25th May 1982 at St Helier Hospital Carshalton Surrey, Aged 93.

Samson's Father was James Gray who was born in 1861 in Honiton Devon and later moved to Lambeth with his family. He married Emma Bagwell (Also born in Honiton) at All Saints Church Newington in Lambeth on the 18th April 1880. He worked for a while as a railway porter and later as a scaffolder. They had 7 Children Wyndham Gray who died as an infant, Samson Gray my Grandfather, Nathaniel Gray, James Gray, Henry Gray, Ellen Gray & Phoebe Gray. Ellen & Phoebe both went to Canada and have Families there. James Gray died July 13th 1908 in Brook St. Workhouse infirmary Lambeth aged 48.

Wyndham Gray (James's Father)  was born in Thornford Dorset  March 3rd 1836. He later Moved to Honiton in Devon ( Probably for work) where he met and married Ellen Stocker on the 22 May 1859. They had 9 Children. Henry & James born in Honiton Anna & Charles born in Topsham Devon ,  Elizabeth, Famson Charlotte, Phoebe, David John & Philip all born in Lambeth after Wyndham & Ellen had moved there with their 4 eldest children. When Wyndham married he was described as a labourer. in 1872 he was working as a railway porter in Lambeth. in 1878 he is described as an Insurance agent, in 1880 as a commercial traveler and in 1881 as a Draper. Wyndham died on the 8th July 1883 at 14 Luscombe St. Kennington Surrey aged 47 of Dropsey.

This is Philip Gray Youngest son of Wyndham Gray & Ellen Stocker. Philip was born on the 28th January 1878 in Luscombe St. Lambeth. He went to Australia where he had a number of relatives and Joined the Australian Army during World War 1 on 1st November 1816 He was Pvt Philip Gray 6581 2nd Machine Gun Brigade. He returned to Australia after the War on the 1st May 1919

Wyndhams Father was Henry Gray who was born in Thornford Dorset on the 26th June 1814. Henry married Charlotte Gould in Thornford on the 9th February 1835 they had 7 children Wyndham, Elizabeth, Samson Charles, Susan, David John, Henry James, And Mary Eliza. Charlotte died in Thornford on 22nd July 1877 of Dropsy aged 67. Henry died on the 1st April 1888 aged 74 Although his death certificate says 70 in Coombe Sherbourne of Heart disease and General dropsy. GRAY-ROWNEY. On the 20th 3uly, 1868, the marriage was performed at Norwood, by the Rev. Samuel Knight of David John, son of the late Henry Gray, Dorsetshire, England, to Mary Ann, daughter of the late William Rowney, Campbelltown. Present address Macclesfield.

Mr. D.J. Gray.

The late Mr. D.J. Gray, whose death was reported recently, was born in Dorsetshire, England on December 9, 1848. He came to this state in the ship "Electric" in 1864, and married a daughter of the late Mr. William Rowney, of Campbelltown, in which district he resided for a time. Later deceased lived at Stirling East, and finally took up farming at Macclesfield, where he remained for 37 years. Mr. Gray took an active part in movements for the welfare of the district. He was a member of the District Council for many years, and for some time was Chairman. He  was a member of the 1.0. Foresters (Payneham branch) for 50 years, and also a great Rechabite advocate. Mr. Gray was founder of the Macclesfield Star of South Tent, of which order he was a member for 40 years. Deceased sold his farm about 12 months ago, and transferred to Forestville. He has left a widow, four daughters, five sons, and 17 grandchildren

David Gray (Dorset), 17, single, General Emigrant (agricultural labourer), application 4912, left Plymouth on the Electric, 1.7.1865. Amount paid by Emigrant -,£1. Selecting agent - Charles Moore.
