 | East
End 1888 The following names are indexed
from "East End 1888" by William J. Fishman, Prof of Political
Studies, Q Mary College, London. This is a study of the appalling
conditions of the inner London suburbs of the Tower Hamlets area in 1888.
It is a study of poverty, violence, sweated labour, terrible health, even
worse housing. It is a revelation of just how bad conditions were, and
makes a genealogist boggle at how any records could be made. It is
salutary reading. Many addresses are included, though probably often
temporary as people often moved. Indexed by Mike Foster, Wellington, 1993

Grimsby: Absent Voters in Grimsby & Cleethorpes Lincolnshire in 1919
The Absent Voters List is a very useful resource for
Family Historians. At the end of the war many men were away from home, but
were still entitled to vote. This list can supply, in most cases, the
details of which service a person was attached to, including such
information as service number, battalion, regiment, ship, and rank. It
even tells us whether they were P.O.W.s |

 | London:
names from the book " London Life In The 18th Century"
The following names are indexed from the book
:"London Life in the Eighteenth Century" by M Dorothy George.
The number of names appearing in the book is not large but there are
enough to be worth listing. The book is a very good description of life
and conditions in London through the 1700s and early 1800s. Some of the
stories of the ill-treatment of apprentices are horrendous.
